The Committee

The EcoLiving Committee is a volunteer-based group. The members of the organizing committee include:

2012 Board Members

Clark Dickson – President
Clark Dickson

Clark Dickson is a mechanical engineer who manages the design and construction of upstream natural gas infrastructure in central Alberta.  During his university days in Kingston, Ontario he developed a deep interest in renewable energy systems and other technologies that improve energy efficiency.  He has been working with EcoLiving Events since returning to Calgary in 2005, and has been the organization’s President since 2008.

Meaghan Riopel – Treasurer
Meaghan
Coming from an entrepreneurial family offering green, efficient solutions to different industries, I have been fortunate to have been exposed to a passion for sustainability in many facets of home living and business. An MBA/CMA candidate, I am interested in Board membership and working toward sustainable financial objectives and operations. My desire to work with EcoLiving Events stems from a love for nature and outdoor sports as well as building a strong, healthy and efficient Calgary.

It is misleading to think we need large-scale, top-down changes to foster real change. We as citizens can contribute to and demand change through our everyday activities and the choices we make. I want to help EcoLiving educate and get people talking about the little things we can do to make big impacts.

Human beings have an amazing capacity to learn and grow. Let’s use our time to connect with one another and build upon past successes. Together we can move towards a brighter future focused on sustainable happiness. I am excited to start working as an agent of change with EcoLiving Events.

What will the world look like in 30 years? I would love to see vibrant communities, healthy diets, fresh air, clean water, beautiful scenery, and the smiling faces that appreciate all the promise that the world has to offer them. This future is possible, so let’s make it a reality.

Mathew Evans
Mathew Evans
My background is in communications and soon to be broadcasting. I grew up in North Vancouver and have since lived, worked, and studied in Toronto and Calgary. It is exciting to work with people who share a mutual attitude towards a sustainable future. Something which can and has to be applied to every aspect of living.

When I became involved with EcoLiving Events in August of 2011 it was apparent right away that the strength of the organization lay in the dedication and resolve of its members, and that this was something which I very much want to be a part of.

Peter-John (PJ) Frayne
PJ Frayne
PJ has been actively involved with EcoLiving for two years as a committee member. He has a passion for the environment and for seeing the world change for the better through the positive actions of grassroots-driven organizations such as EcoLiving Events.

PJ’s background in business has seen him run both a retail fruit vending operation in Calgary, and a wine import business in Mexico. He graduated from Mount Royal University with Bachelor of Business Administration and currently works for the Business Development Bank of Canada as an account manager. This resume of business experience has given PJ a firm understanding in analyzing and interpreting the financial affairs of organizations.

Judi Vandenbrink – Executive Director
Judi Vandenbrink
Judi founded EcoLiving Events in 2002 because many people were looking for ways to promote their environmentally friendly products or services and there was nowhere to go in Calgary at the time.

Judi has worked in the environmental sector for over 15 years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Ecology. She started a consulting business, EcoConsulting and has worked with many organizations including the City of Calgary, Cross Conservation Area, Clean Calgary, WADE Canada and Climate Change Central to name a few.
